Somabay Endurance Festival

The Endurance Festival is Egypt’s biggest multi-sport event, and since its introduction in 2014 has welcomed thousands of athletes to its different races. The event gives participants the choice of various classic multi-sport distances, including the Sprint, Supersprint, Olympic, & Youth Races.

The Endurance Festival is suitable for athletes of all ages and abilities, from complete beginners to professional competitors. Children between the ages of 5-10 can take part in the 1K Kids Race, while the other distances have seen participants from 14 all the way to 70+ take part. The Somabay Endurance Festival is organised to the highest of international endurance sports standards, with features such MyLaps automatic timing and an amazing race course.

The TriFactory is organising the Somabay Endurance Festival just once in 2023, so to you won’t want to miss this exciting Fifth Edition, taking place from May 25th – May 27th, 2023.

The registration fee covers the full race experience including the race bag, swim cap, automatic timing service, event t-shirt, and finisher medal (only awarded in the event of successful completion of the race distance), and digital race certificate. RACE COURSE

SWIMMING
Open water course in calm, clear waters. Course is monitored by lifeguards in kayaks and zodiacs.

CYCLING
Course is a mixture of flat stretches plus uphill climbs, alternating between tailwind and headwind. Bike mechanics are present on the course.

RUNNING
Seaside promenade scenic run on interlock brick surface.

LASER SHOOTING
5 rounds of laser pistol shooting from 10m distance

CUT-OFF TIME

Beginning in 2022, the Somabay Endurance Festival will only enforce cut-off times for the Olympic distance, based on the following time limits:
Cut-off for Swim: 1 hour
Cut-off for Swim + Bike: 3 hours
Cut-off for Swim + Bike + Run: 4 hours
The cut-off time will be calculated from each individual athlete’s swim start time, making it exactly the same for all participants, and ensuring that there is no benefit gained from starting in an earlier swim wave,

There are no cut-off times for the Sprint, Sprint Relay, Supersprint, Youth, 10K, or 1K Kids Race.

RANKING

All athletes will be timed using the MyLaps Timing System for accurate results through the electronic timing chip. Final results will be posted online and organised via overall ranking and age groups and gender with the top finishers in every 5-year age group earning gold, silver, and bronze medals, while the top overall winners are honoured on the podium, receiving their champions’ medals and prizes.
